KILO ROMEO CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GROUP INCORPORATED
Offering The Gentle Hand Of Friendship Around The World Through The Medium Of 27Mhz (11 Metres)
by Kilo Romeo 008 Bryan (Secretary)
Kilo Romeo was founded back in 1976 by KR01 Ray and KR26 Joan (of the USA)
and the name evolved from their use of "Kindilan Radio" as the call
.... In fact KR01 Ray worked at the "Kindilan" complex which still
caters for young children to this day.
Our financial membership extends through all Australian States and Territories,
and New Zealand. We have many former members from pre-incorporation days from
around the world listed as "associate members." We operate within our
band allocation and thus rarely make contact with any of those friends of years
ago.
Aims and Objects (taken from our Constitution) are:
Promote and encourage responsible use of Citizen Band Radio as an enjoyable hobby.
Provide technical and other information that will assist the membership to better understand the mode of communication and the equipment used.
Provide a medium for exchange of information between members.
Ensure members conduct themselves in a manner which will reflect creditably upon the Group and themselves at all times. To that end members must not...
Use foul language when transmitting.
Intentionally cause embarrassment to any other operator, whether member or not.
Refuse to help any other "station" in genuine need, or be discourteous with intent.
Get involved in any argumentative situation with any other operator.
Ignore or interfere where a genuine emergency situation is established.
Use other than "Kilo Romeo" (not "KR") as station identification.
Occupy frequency 27.155mhz (channel 16) or 27.355mhz (channel 35) longer than is necessary to establish initial radio contact with another station.
Ensure that management of the Group remains in the control of resident Queenslanders, and in particular, south-east Queensland.
Conduct regular Group Meetings in order to encourage members to participate in Group decision making and social activities.
Membership criteria is summed up
in our Objects as above. Should a person be interested in finding out more
detail about our Group they should write to our
Secretary (Kilo Romeo 008 Bryan)
P.O Box 16, Cleveland 4160 Queensland.
Intending members need to be nominated and seconded by financial members and
ratified at one of our monthly meetings - in special circumstances we accept the
recommendation of our State or Regional Directors, particularly where the
applicant lives in regional Australia. Any decent person is welcome to apply -
those who have no intention of abiding by our rules shouldn't bother.
Our joining fee depends on the applicant's status ......
In the work force ........ $15-00
Pensioners etc.. $12-00
and in the home of an existing member (wife or other family member) the
applicant pays $5-00
Subsequent renewals are set at $10-00 per member per year ($5-00 for a second
member in the same home).
New members receive a "welcome" package which includes a laminated
membership certificate, name tag, membership listing, log sheet, QSL cards, a
copy of our latest newsletter etc. etc.
Thenceforth members receive a comprehensive newsletter bi-monthly, the
opportunity to attend our monthly breakfast meetings to partake of a hearty meal
and great fellowship, plus our heavily subsidised Christmas party and free
end-of-year luncheon in December annually. For those with email addresses we
send correspondence, updates of membership lists and newsletters to them per
that medium.
We also have an option in place for those interested to speak to each other per
Excite Voice Chat on the computer .... when skip conditions do not permit this
is a sure-fire way of making contact with your friends interstate etc. However,
as time has gone by, the Group has seen many members with email capability and
when radio conditions are not good members utilize their email facility to keep
in touch.
