Clubs and Club callsigns originate in many different ways. This one originated
with the now, Ugly 01, Dave and his brother commenting on how ugly each other
looked. "Your ugly too!" was the comment by Dave to his brother. Ugly
too...or ugly 2? Thus a callsign was born. The brother-in-law walked in and
guess what? He became Ugly 3. The formation of a club was taking place.
The Club's membership is spread from Central Victoria to the Cold Coast in
Queensland. It has become the only active club in the Latrobe Valley Area to
cater for those CBers wishing to be a part of a group.
Upon joining the Club, members pay a once only life fee of $5.00 so that it ca
be affordable to those with limited finance. In return, members receive
newsletters on a regular basis, a membership certificate, an updated membership
list and many other rights and privileges. QSL Cards are also available at a
relatively inexpensive price. Funds are also raised through the sale of various
raffle ticket promotions.
The Club is orientated towards social functions so that all members are in
regular personal contact apart from the club's general meetings. And for the
kids, Easter and Xmas becomes a treat for them with the Club organizing a show
for them at these times of the year.
The Club is happy to help anyone with matters relating to radio in general via
Rick, a VK, also known as Delta Base Melbourne. and in general, promote good
clean fun on the air waves.
The ugly CB Club has certainly made itself known along the Eastern seaboard and
will be around for a long time to come.
And I don't think that to qualify and be a member, one has to be
"ugly." Though I personally, have never met any of the members, I
can't be certain that some or all are not ugly.
